The Protector, manufactured by Syndicated Shipyards, is a slow warship equipped with a huge number of turrets.

Voted the "ugliest ship in the sky" by Stars and Starships Magazine, the Protector is a typical example of brutally efficient Syndicate engineering. It is basically nothing more than eight turrets attached to a set of engines and crew's quarters, designed as a defense platform that can accompany merchant convoys.

Performance Information[]
The Protector is slow and not very pleasing to the eye. In spite of these qualities, they can prove challenging to battle for an unprepared foe. The accurate missiles these ships launch allow them to harass ships at a distance while they slowly bring their turrets into range. Once those turrets are in range the results can be devastating. Functionally, a Protector can bring twenty four Energy Blasters into the fight and deplete enemy shields rapidly. Several Protectors can bleed even Wanderer shields dry.
Syndicate Protectors routinely patrol Syndicate space, and they are also fielded by the pirates lurking in the east of human territory. During the Free Worlds campaign both the Syndicate and the Republic can use a handful of these ships on certain missions.
